Everest Handicraft Industries Inc. (EHI) was founded in 1999 by Mrs. Ang Lami Sherpa in Kathmandu, Nepal with a unique mission to promote handicraft products of Nepal around the World. We are mainly concentrated in increasing income opportunities to the people from the hilly and mountainous regions of Nepal where we source our raw materials.
Handicraft is one such business sector where ample employment opportunities opens to men and women from rural Nepal. Everest Handicraft is dedicated to assist them by exporting their products to developed countries. We bring these fine quality handcrafted items from the Himalayas to the international market. EHI selects every handicraft items directly from the artisans which guarantees that each item is a truly unique art form, made by the indigenous people of Nepal. We work closely with our artisans and or suppliers to develop new product ideas based on available skills and materials using inspirations from Nepalese and Sherpa traditional culture. Besides, we have our own production unit of fine quality Nepalese-Tibetan woven rugs. EHI is responsible to it's manufacturers, importers, customers as well as towards the environment. It encourages manufacturers to produce handicraft items not harming the nature. We selects the products only from the producers meeting our strict sustainable guidelines.
We offer you mainly Nepalese-Tibetan hand knotted rugs in several materials, designs, knots quality, nettle handloom cloth, hemp handloom cloth, Dhaka weaving cloth, Himalayan Pashmina, jewellery, Nepali Lokta paper craft, which are indeed environment friendly products of Nepal. All the products comes with the touch of Nepalese people, their culture and religion and the surrounding environment of the proper artisan. However, custom designs are always possible and encouraged to implement on our products as we believe that designs are based on the imagination.
Everest Handicraft has been involved into some welfare activities to the concerned society, workers and their children’s education, however it does not have any other source. We have also been associated with Nepal Rug Mark Foundation, which works to eliminate child labor from the industry and rehabilitates the under privileged children.
The Founder and Owner
The founder of Everest Handicraft, Mrs. Ang Lami Sherpa, comes from Himalayan region of Nepal, where the art of making rugs is gifted as an ancestral property. She is very interested into creating crafts and knitting from her childhood. She enjoyed her time in knitting, making hay items and decorative items with her friends escaping from school too. Before adopting rugs and handicrafts as her profession, she took formal training on rug designing, color combination as well as on raw materials. She also participated in a 18 months training on “Developing Sustainable Products” organized by SNV, UNEP and Nepal Tourism Board. She also took training on “production management” organized by Fair Trade Group, Nepal. Her keen interest, several professional trainings, her love of rugs and long experience inspires her to create a very special hand knotted rugs to satisfy the consumers, designers and importers around the World.

Weaver Welfare
Education to Workers’ Children
Everest Handicraft (EHI) has made an arrangement for the education of worker's children with it’s limited source. EHI provides stationeries and other necessary items to school going children. We also send smaller children to Child Day Care Centers for informal education.
Day Care Center for Worker's Children
Everest Handicraft has arranged a Day Care Center for the toddlers of workers to take care of them while their parents are working. We hope that it will be of a great support to workers that they can work freely using their full skills without worrying their small kids while working.
Fair Wages
All our workers receive faire wages and other facilities.
Sound Working Condition
Everest Handicraft has spacious weaving hall with sufficient light and air along with other facilities. Clean living environment and sanitation and safety of job is highly emphasize.
First Aid & Medical Facilities
A first aid kit is always ready in the factory premises. The employees and their children are provided free health check up, medical and ambulance facilities through Care & Fair.
Recreation
Yearly picnic and festival gathering are arranged for the employees and their children.
Social Involvement
However Everest Handicraft does not have other source of fund, it contributes some amount from its profit to public school located in factory area, where our weaver’s children also study. It also contributes some amount into road maintenance in the area. You are also encouraged to support to public school, local clubs, health and education to weaver’s children.
